A 26-year-old man from Newport News, Virginia, was arrested for allegedly abandoning his own baby in the middle of a busy street where the child was almost hit by an SUV, police report.
Newport News police have charged Tyrell Jones with putting his 1-year-old son in the middle of West 29th Street on the evening of August 23rd.
Police say that Jones was arguing with his wife, when he put the baby in the street. When the child’s mother tried to rush to the baby’s aide, Jones assaulted her repeatedly.
Jones is charged with child neglect as well as assault and battery.
