Donald Trump would take Ronda Rousey into battle. The women’s mixed-martial arts champion wouldn’t place Donald Trump’s name into the ballot box.

The billionaire politician spoke favorably of women in combat on Wednesday.

“Some of them are really, really good,” Trump told CNN’s Chris Cuomo. “I’ll tell you what, I know some women that are just—Ronda Rousey is an example, who likes me.” Trump added, “I’d take her on my side as a fighter.”

Rousey, a 12-0 mixed-martial artist who disposed of her last four opponents in an average of 32 seconds each, told a CNN interviewer, who described Trump’s campaign as exuding a “very MMA kind of feel to it,” that she does not wish to put the Donald in the White House.

“Um, I mean, I wouldn’t vote for him,” Rousey dispassionately told her CNN interlocutor. “I just really wouldn’t trust the guy with running my country, that’s all. I’m not really going to get into the specifics of it. I don’t want a reality-TV star to be running my country.”

Trump, who knows something about short fights—hosting Mike Tyson’s 91-second demolition of Michael Spinks in Atlantic City in 1988—evidently did not hear the UFC women’s bantamweight champion’s remarks about him before issuing his own about her.

Rousey’s comments came several weeks before Trump’s.
