The Leader of the Black Lives Matter movement, 35-year-old Shaun King, has not directly addressed questions about his ethnicity after a Breitbart News report revealed that he is a white man despite claiming for years that he is black or biracial.
While masquerading as a black or biracial man, King benefitted: he was the recipient of a coveted Oprah Winfrey scholarship that he used to attend Atlanta-based historically black college Morehouse.
While news of King’s true identity quickly spread across the web, resulting in him becoming the number one trending topic on Twitter, Morehouse College responded and distanced itself from the outspoken activist:
Indeed, King credits the Morehouse/Oprah Winfrey scholarship as the reason he has a college degree. “Oprah Winfrey paid my way through Morehouse. The leadership scholarship that I received from her is why I have a college degree today. Five hundred other brothers have the exact same story,” King wrote in his Daily Kos diary.
Oprah Winfrey has yet to respond to emails asking for response.
