CLEVELAND, Ohio—The top social media moment during the first GOP primary debate was between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on their disagreement over the NSA and the Patriot Act, according to Facebook.
Following the first GOP presidential primary debate Thursday night in Cleveland, Ohio, Facebook released data showing what political issues were discussed the most by Facebook users as well as the candidates that were mentioned the most.
According to Facebook’s data, immigration was the most discussed topic of the debate.
Racial issues followed as the second biggest topic. The economy came in third, education was fourth, and abortion followed in fifth.
GOP frontrunner Donald Trump had the most attention among Facebook users – which isn’t surprising, since he has dominated media platforms since his formal announcement, according to a recent study.
Dr. Ben Carson came in second as the most discussed candidate during the primetime debate.
Paul was third, Gov. Mike Huckabee was fourth, and then Christie was the fifth most discussed candidate.
