GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee slammed President Obama’s new rules to regulate carbon emissions from power plants as a handout to wealthy foreigners and Washington insiders Monday.
“President Obama’s crusade against carbon shows he’s more committed to confronting American coal miners than Iranian clerics who chant ‘Death to America,’” Huckabee said in a statement.
“Obama’s job-killing EPA rule is a handout to Chinese businesses, Arab oil sheiks, Russian energy despots, and Washington insiders completely detached from reality,” the former Arkansas governor added.
Monday President Obama announced the Environmental Protection Agency’s final rule to set emissions standards to reduce the amount of carbon released into the atmosphere. Republicans, including Huckabee, are criticizing the move.
Huckabee attacked the plan as a job-killer that fails to consider ordinary Americans.
“How can this administration pretend to care about ordinary Americans and then unleash an unconstitutional, executive power grab that will kill 1.4 million American jobs and cost the average American family $800 per year?” he said.
“America should feed, fuel and fight for itself, and additional Washington mandates are an attack on self-reliance, hard work, and American energy independence,” Huckabee concluded.
