At a rally on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol today, organized in response to the ongoing undercover investigations of Planned Parenthood, presidential contender Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky told 200 pro-life demonstrators and a huge bank of television and video cameras that the Hillary Clinton should “return the money she’s been receiving from Planned Parenthood officials.”
He said: “There comes a time in the history of nations, when we will all be judged on whether or not we took a stand for life. Now is that time.” And then he guaranteed that the U.S. Senate would vote to defund Planned Parenthood “by the time we go home in August.”
He described seeing his own children on ultrasound “moving around, fighting, moving their arms. They were already playing sports. But we now find out that Planned Parenthood was using the ultrasound to manipulate the baby into a position to harvest the organs. This callous disregard discussed over wine and cheese should inflame and infuriate us all and we should stop once and for all any money going to Planned Parenthood.”
Senator Ted Cruz of Texas called the recent Planned Parenthood videos “nothing short of horrifying. In the past several weeks we’ve seen a series of videos of senior Planned Parenthood officials laughing, swilling chardonnay and casually, callously, heartlessly bartering and selling body parts of unborn children.”
Cruz urged all Americans, “no matter your views on abortion, to watch the videos and ask yourself one question. Are these my values?”
“Today is a time for action. Today the U.S. Department of Justice should open a criminal investigation into all those individuals. Today the U.S. Department of Justice should open up a investigation into whether Planned Parenthood nationally is a criminal enterprise breaking the law,” he said.
Cruz said it was sad that hardly any media observer believes that the U.S. Department of Justice would actually investigate whether Planned Parenthood had violated federal criminal laws.
“Today the Obama Justice Department is operating as little more than a partisan arm of the Democratic National Committee. When you have multiple individuals caught on tape apparently confessing to multiple felonies that carry with them long jail time, justice must be served. I call upon the Department of Justice to enforce the criminal laws and investigate Planned Parenthood.”
He called upon the mainstream media to ask Hillary Clinton “if she is pleased that she has such passionate support from what appears to be a national criminal enterprise and if she supports Planned Parenthood’s sale of baby body parts.”
U.S. House member Andy Harris is a medical doctor from Johns Hopkins University who did research on fetal sheep. He said there were “more protections for those fetal sheep than there are for fetal human beings who are being dismembered at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics.”
Harris told Breitbart News “very specifically we had to give anesthesia to those sheep fetuses before we took their tissue for study. That doesn’t occur at Planned Parenthood clinics.”
He also talked about taking tissue for human experimentation and even when taking a blood sample “if we had to alter our procedures in order to get it, we had to get extensive consent from a patient letting them know this was not the normal way. Obviously this is not how things are done at Planned Parenthood. They are willing to make these procedures more lengthy, more risky for the mother, just in order to gain their profit, I believe without discussing the ramifications with the women.“
Dr. Ben Carson also spoke. He talked about performing the earliest operation ever done on a child in utero, a twin whose head was growing too fast and that threatened the life of both children. He performed an intrauterine surgery placing a shunt in the endangered child. He was criticized for it at the time but now that child is a grown woman and healthy. He also called for defunding Planned Parenthood.
The Capitol Hill rally was one of 65 organized by Students for Life of America. A small contingent of Planned Parenthood supporters, no more than 20, gathered nearby, shouted their slogans and hurried away.
