On the night of July 26, concealed carry permit holder Patrick Ewing drew his gun and shot Thomas McCary, who allegedly shot at Ewing. McCary reportedly then stood with a gun in each hand, shooting at Ewing’s sister and her one-year-old baby, as well.
According to Fox 19, Ewing approached McCary around 7:30 p.m. after overhearing an argument. As he got closer, McCary allegedly pulled a .38 revolver and opened fire on Ewing. In response, Ewing drew his concealed carry weapon and shot McCary in the leg.
McCary then retreated into his apartment, only to reemerge “with a gun in each hand.” He then began firing at the woman, her one-year-old, and Ewing.
Ewing returned fire to distract McCary’s attention from the woman and baby and allow them an opportunity to escape. McCary ran back into his apartment–having hit no one with his second flurry of bullets–and “was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.”
He was arrested and booked into jail Monday afternoon after being released from the hospital.
