Former Arkansas Governor and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee said that he doesn’t think President Obama likes Israel on Monday’s “O’Reilly Factor” on the Fox News Channel.
Huckabee defended his comments that President Obama trusting Iran “will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven” on the Iran deal. He further wondered why anyone would want to deal with Iran given its heated rhetoric and lack of trustworthiness, but that he would be willing to make a deal if he got certain concessions regarding their rhetoric towards the US and Israel.
Huckabee then countered the assertion that the only alternative to the current deal is war, arguing that sanctions could be increased, and the US could “export energy” to upset the balance of power against Iran, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.
He added, in response to claims that without the deal, Iran will get a nuclear weapon, “If we don’t go in and militarily make sure they don’t.” He conceded there could be a war with Iran, but that “the better thing is to cut them off economically,” and that it wasn’t certain that Russia and China would back out of sanctions against Iran. Huckabee continued that it is certain that the last time the world didn’t take threats against Jews seriously, “6 million of them died.”
Huckabee concluded, “I think he [Obama] is naive, especially when it comes to radical Islam. He won’t even call it by its name. And I do not think he likes Israel. He can say whatever he wants to, but he puts more pressure on Israel for someone building a bedroom onto a house in Judea or Samaria then he does on the Iranians, who are trying to build a bomb for gosh sake.”
