On July 24, U.S. District Judge Murray Snow refused to recuse himself from a “racial-profiling” case against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is conducting his own investigation of the judge.
That same day, Snow “ordered U.S. marshals to seize documents” from Arpaio’s office.
The order came after a “court-appointed monitor reported that the sheriff’s office had failed to turn over information being sought in connection with the case.”
According to Yahoo News, Snow “also ordered that computer hard drives, documents and other materials related to an investigation involving the judge by a confidential informant be given to marshals.” Fox 10 Phoenix reports that by “federal agents seized about 1,400 identification cards, and 50 hard drives” by Friday night.
The ID’s are allegedly tied the racial-profiling case while “the hard drives pertain to Arpaio’s investigation of Judge Snow.”
Sheriff Arpaio did not attend the hearing in which Judge Snow issued the seizure order, and Arpaio spokesman Officer Chris Hegstrom said no comment will be made at this time. Hesgtrom did say, the “truth will come out during the hearing process.”
Attorneys for Sheriff Arpaio requested that Judge Snow recuse himself from the racial profiling case after the judge’s wife allegedly claimed her husband is out to get Arpaio.
Breitbart News previously reported that attorneys Michele M. Iafrate and A. Melvin McDonald filed a Motion for Recusal and Disqualification of District Court Judge G. Murray Snow on May 22 because of the revelations allegedly made by Snow’s wife. During an August 2013 conversation Mrs. Snow allegedly told a childhood friend, Karen Grissom, that her husband “hates” Sheriff Arpaio and “will do anything to get [him] out of office.”
On Friday, Judge Snow issued a “40-page written ruling” in which he said the recusal claims were “legally insufficient and untimely.”
