On Wednesday’s broadcast of “Access Hollywood,” former “CBS Evening News” anchor Dan Rather discussed the rise of real estate mogul Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
Rather explained that this meteoric rise of Trump warrants giving him more coverage.
“I’d be giving him the maximum coverage,” Rather said. “American politics, Presidential politics, is in no small way, theater and Donald Trump is a center star. Whether you like him or dislike him or have no opinion, he’s a center star. He is a force to be reckoned with right now.”
Rather went on to suggest that a lot of the media could be underestimating his staying power.
“[T]he question is whether he’ll flame out or whether he can go quite deep into the Republican primary,” he added. “I think he may be stronger, longer than many in the press are now estimating.”
