DOJ to Review Videos of Planned Parenthood Profiting from Baby Parts

After a week of controversy over a pair of videos showing highly placed members of Planned Parenthood bartering to sell parts of aborted babies—one even hoping to buy a Lamborghini with the profits—the Department of Justice has now announced it will look into allegations that the abortion provider is breaking the law by selling human remains for experimentation.

Last week, a pro-life organization called the Center for Medical Progress released a video showing Planned Parenthood adviser Dr. Deborah Nucatola admitting that Planned Parenthood sells organs of aborted babies. She was even heard detailing just how abortionists alter their technique to save the best bits to sell.

This week, a second video emerged, showing another PP adviser saying that she wanted to buy a Lamborghini with the profits from selling baby body parts and organs.

In the intervening days, voices have been raised to a fever pitch calling for Congress or the Obama administration to look into what many feel is the crime of selling human remains for profit

For its part, Planned Parenthood has threatened Congress with action and insisted that the pro-life organization “harassed” PP operatives and “attacked” them with the undercover video stings.

But with mounting calls for an action, the Department of Justice has now announced that it is considering an investigation into allegations that the abortion provider broke the law by trafficking in human remains.

“I’m aware of those matters generally from the media, and from some inquiries that have been made to the Department of Justice, and again at this point we’re going to review all the information and determine what steps, if any, to take at the appropriate time,” Attorney General Loretta Lynch said on Wednesday.

A group of ten Republican Senators led by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) sent a letter on Wednesday demanding a DOJ investigation. The Republicans want the DOJ to determine if PP broke laws that ban making profits from the sale of human remains.

The Senators also want to know if altering the abortion process to preserve salable body parts is illegal.

Naturally, Democrats went in the opposite direction, asking AG Lynch to investigate if the pro-life group broke any laws by making its videos.
