CEDAR FALLS, Iowa: After spending several days in Iowa, it is clear Republican voters in the Hawkeye state – no matter which GOP presidential candidate they support – agree it’s time to rein in the federal government, especially on issues such as marriage, education and healthcare.
Vern Gidley spoke to Breitbart News at an event for GOP presidential candidate Gov. Scott Walker in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Sunday.
Gidley said he is most concerned with government regulations and the increasing central government power, particularly the federal government’s “ignoring of the Constitution” – especially by the executive branch, he added.
Gidley’s wife, Cyndi Gidley, echoed her husband’s concerns, but added that she is also worried that the current administration is “giving no recognition to God in our country.”
The Gidleys – as grandparents – also said they are “so against Common Core.”
Matt – who wished to leave his last name out of the story – was in attendance at the Walker event as well.
He said he is most concerned with the nation’s security and that he thinks the “deaths of these five people are at the door step of the White House” – referring to the military men killed last Thursday in Chattanooga, Tennessee by a devout Muslim.
Another voter who attended the Walker event was a University of Northern Iowa professor, who wished to remain anonymous while speaking with Breitbart News.
The professor said, “Iowans are extremely educated on all the news sources” – adding, “We’re honest.”
The professor and her friend said issues like family, marriage and life are particularly important to voters like them this election cycle – adding “not climate control.”
They honed in on education and safety as top priorities, also touching on health care, concluding it’s important the next president gets “rid of Obamacare.”
