On July 4, Randy Johnson allegedly pinned down his girlfriend, “brutally abused” and choked her, and then got shot after she got her hands on a gun.
The incident took place in New Orleans.
According to The New Orleans Advocate, Johnson allegedly attacked his girlfriend around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. The police report says he allegedly “‘brutally and physically abused’ the woman by choking and strangling her” and hit her in the face.
At some point, the woman was able to break free and retrieve a gun, which she then used to shoot Johnson.
She called police and said, “I shot him, I couldn’t get him off of me.”
Police arrived and Johnson was hospitalized for a gunshot wound to the groin. He was released from the hospital on July 5 and “booked on a count of domestic abuse battery by strangulation.” Johnson is now housed in the Jefferson Parrish Correctional Facility.
On June 29, 2014, Breitbart News reported that three of The View’s female panelists—Sherri Shepherd, Jenny McCarthy, and Fox News’s Juliet Huddy—talked about the level of protection a gun affords a woman under attack.
Shepherd talked about how all her friends told her to get a bat, to which she said:
[But what if] you got one of these? [makes a gesture like she’s holding a gun and makes the sound of cocking a gun] They’re not going to come near you and your child! So when you’re standing there and you don’t know how to protect your child? Get a gun!
Johnson’s girlfriend had access to a gun when he allegedly pounced on her and began “brutally” abusing her. That gun made the difference.
