Rubio Caves After Same-Sex Marriage Ruling: We ‘Must Abide By the Law’

While most of the other GOP 2016 contenders have urged resistance to the Supreme Court’s Friday ruling on same-sex marriage, Sen. Marco Rubio said Americans “must abide by the law.”

In a statement on his website, Rubio said he believes in traditional marriage as central to a strong family life, but then added:

While I disagree with this decision, we live in a republic and must abide by the law. As we look ahead, it must be a priority of the next president to nominate judges and justices committed to applying the Constitution as written and originally understood.
