Vice President Joe Biden returned to the public stage today for a speech at the White House Clean Energy Summit, blasting Republicans for denying climate change.
“As hard as it is to believe, many of these same people continue to deny the reality of climate change,” he said. “They also deny gravity, but they also deny that there’s any such thing as climate change.”
He criticized Congress for ramping down investments in renewable energy, describing it as “an outfit he worked for a long long time” before making the Sign of the Cross.
Biden also referred to Pope Francis’s upcoming encyclical on the environment, pointing to the front page of the “Washington Pope” before correcting himself.
“They sometimes think they’re the Pope,” he cracked.
