As the crucial vote for fast-track trade authorities looms, President Obama is headed over to Capitol Hill to make his case to House Democrats who are on the fence about supporting the president’s proposal.
The vote is scheduled to take place today.
During a radio interview this morning, Rep. Paul Ryan indicated that Congress had the votes for trade promotion authority (TPA) but that the Trade Adjustment Authority (TAA) vote was still in question.
“There’s an effort among the Democrat Left in Congress which is quite frankly quite a lot of them that try to take down this program that they’ve always cared about,” Ryan said about the TAA program.
Yesterday evening, Obama also made a surprise trip to the Congressional Baseball game at Nationals Park to speak with members of Congress about the upcoming vote.
