On Wednesday’s episode of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” left-leaning host Jon Stewart questioned the merits of New York Times front-page stories taking on Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), a candidate for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, and questioning personal financial situation including the purchase of a so-called “luxury speed boat” and how he incurred student loan debt.
“How is this front-page news?” Stewart asked. “[P]aying off law school loans? How dare you. At long last, senator, have you no sense of insolvency?”
“I don’t know if Mitt Romney’s the guy to vet people on responsible spending. $80,000 on a boat slightly pales in comparison to $52 million on a losing pipe dream,” Stewart added. “At least Rubio’s got a boat to show for it.”
