U.S. Capitol Police have cleared several floors of the Dirkson Senate Office building after receiving a phone call reporting a “suspicious package,” according to Public Information Officer Lt. Kimberly Schneider.

Schneider added to Breitbart News that the Capitol Police are currently investigating. The package was reported in SD 340.

The evacuation interrupted an ongoing Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on the Transportation Security Administration’s recent security failures. That meeting was also located on the third floor of Dirkson, in room SD 342.

“We need to stand in recess for this committee hearing, we have, apparently Capitol Police is clearing this,” Chairman Ron Johnson (R-WI) said before the evacuation.

“We’re clearing the floor, so if you could in an orderly fashion please exit as quickly as possible. Thank you,” he added.

Schneider, a little over an hour later, announced that Capitol Police had cleared SD-340 and had found “nothing hazardous.”

“Simultaneously, the USCP cleared a suspicious package (unattended lunch cooler) in the Russell Courtyard with negative results, nothing hazardous found‎,” she added.
