Sen. Lincoln Chafee will enter the presidential race against likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton Wednesday afternoon in Arlington, Virginia, according to Fox News.
Chafee joins underdogs Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D-MD).
Chafee left the GOP in 2007 and became an Independent, then switched to the Democratic Party.
Fox News reports he is differentiating himself from Clinton, as he is the only Republican senator that at the time voted against the Iraq war in 2003 – which Clinton had supported.
Chafee served as a U.S. Senator from Rhode Island from 1999 to 2003 as a Republican. He then left the Republican Party and in 2011 was elected as the 74th Governor of Rhode Island as an Independent. He reportedly joined the Democratic Party in 2013.
