Sunday on ABC’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos,” Bloomberg’s Mark Halperin discussed Hillary Clinton avoiding the press during her presidential campaign and said, “I never dealt with a campaign in my career that is so unresponsive.”
Halperin said, “There are substantive issues that she [Hillary Clinton] has to address. This week I tried to get answers to some stories that broke about President Clinton’s finances. I never dealt with a campaign in my career that is so unresponsive. They said we’ll get you those answers and then simply don’t. For a major campaign that’s well staffed, I have never encountered that. And I think that suggests they dont want to answer the questions. In the short term, most Democrat strategists I talk to say that’s the right thing to do because it’s not hurting her poll numbers.”
His “With All Due Respect” co-host John Heilemann agreed and said,”There is a gnawing sense among democrats, especially establishment democrats, that they aren’t handling these things well. The stories keep building on themselves and could be problematic the general election.”
