Friday at the White House press briefing, when asked about Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) fight against the Patriot Act highlighted in a new ad from America’s Liberty PAC featuring a “shirtless Rand Paul,” press secretary Josh Earnest said his interest was “piqued.”
Earnest said, “I haven’t seen the ad, but I will say you have piqued my interest,” adding, “put that on the to-do list for this afternoon, guys.”
He continued, “I would say there is a pretty long history in the Commonwealth of Kentucky of pretty heated feuds, going back all the way to the Hatfields & McCoys. And the fact is, there seems to be a a feud right now between the leader of the United States, Senator Mitch McConnell, a native of Kentucky, and Senator Paul. Unfortunately the victim of that feud right now is the amount of risk that’s facing our national security and legislation that would protect the privacy and civil liberties of our people.”
