The U.S. House of Representatives has voted on and passed a national defense bill that was stripped of an amendment that would have given all of those executive-amnestied Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) kids the opportunity to enlist in the U.S. military.

It was expected that all House Democrats would vote against the bill, which smacked Obama’s DACA executive amnesty in the kisser, but what wasn’t expected were the 20 Republicans who sided with their Democrat colleagues to vote against the measure.

Three of south Florida’s own, Rep. Carlos Curbelo, Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, all voted against the bill, before they voted to support it. This was also the case for Democrat Senate candidate, Rep. Patrick Murphy.

Breitbart News’s Matt Boyle was a little more direct in his story about the vote:

Gallego’s amendment would have allowed illegal aliens who have received President Obama’s first executive amnesty—the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), which some 800,000 or so illegal aliens have received—to enlist in the United States military. It would have come with an NDAA that reduces America’s force size—meaning the NDAA would have, if it weren’t for the Brooks amendment bolstered by conservatives like Reps. Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and Dave Brat (R-VA) among others, put illegal aliens ahead of Americans. What’s more, it would have used a defense bill—rather than an immigration bill—to do it.

Rep. Ron DeSantis, who is has also announced that he will be running for the U.S. Senate in 2016, voted “Aye” on the bill.
