Dr. Ben Carson: Hillary Avoiding Press Because 'She Realizes the Less She Talks, the Better Off She Is'

On Breitbart News Sunday on Sirius XM Patriot channel 125, GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson said that Hillary Clinton is avoiding the press because “she realizes the less she talks, the better off she is.”

Carson said that he was asked in New Hampshire recently about the best strategy for defeating Clinton, who has not conducted a formal interview with the press since announcing her candidacy a month ago. He said he replied, “let her talk.”

“Maybe she heard that and said, ‘maybe I better stop talking,'” Carson said in jest.

Carson added that “the good thing is that [Hillary] is an excellent representative of the progressive left ideology” and “eventually she’ll have to talk.”

“Hopefully whoever the Republican nominee is will be an excellent example of the concept of self-reliance, love of our country and love of our constitution,” he added. “And it will be very easy to contrast… and people will have a very easy choice to make.”

Carson also blasted ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos for not disclosing that he donated $75,000 to the Clinton Foundation while grilling Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large and Government Accountability Institute President Peter Schweizer on his blockbuster book, Clinton Cash: The Untold Story of How and Why Foreign Governments and Businesses Helped Make Bill and Hillary Rich.

“Certainly it demonstrates a lack of ethical considerations here,” he said. “I’m glad that at least he comes out and admits that, recognizes it is not the right thing to do.”

Carson said the rather tepid reaction from the left regarding Stephanopoulos’s actions and conflict of interest “demonstrates a severe myopia particularly on behalf of many in the progressive movement… who are very quick to point out anything that anybody on the other side does that’s wrong… but when they do something that is clearly wrong, ‘eh, it’s not such a bad thing, and I’m sorry, and let’s move on.'”

“I hope that people will evaluate that at face value,” he said.

Carson, who last week wrote a letter to RNC Chair Reince Priebus to pressure him to be more inclusive regarding the debate requirements, also said that since Republicans will likely run against either Hillary Clinton or Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), it would be bad optics to exclude Carly Fiorina from the debates.

“The last thing the Republicans need is the charge that there was a woman who wanted to run but they wouldn’t even include her in the debates,” he said. “It’s not going to look good, and it’s going to play extremely well for the Democrats… and we don’t need to be giving them that advantage.”
