Former Arkansas Governor and Presidential candidate Mike Huckabee wants Republicans to reject upcoming legislation that would provide the president fast-track authority to negotiate trade deals.
“Republicans in Congress need to slam the brakes on ObamaTrade because the last thing this Administration fast-tracked was ObamaCare, and they simply cannot be trusted to negotiate any international trade deal that puts American workers first,” said Huckabee said Thursday.
Tuesday, Senate Democrats blocked the Obama-backed legislation from coming to the floor. Senate negotiators reached a deal Wednesday to get the Trade Promotion Authority bill back on track. A vote on the legislation is expected later Thursday.
According to the Republican from Arkansas, Obama cannot be trusted with fast-track.
“This administration must sort out a clear, honest framework with Congress before horse-trading with foreign countries because President Obama is an expert at using chaos, controversy, and the threat of economic Armageddon to advance his liberal agenda, kill jobs, and hurt American workers,” Huckabee added.
