Former Florida Governor and prospective GOP presidential candidate Jeb Bush stated that while “there were mistakes” in the handling of the Iraq War, he’s not sure what, in hindsight, his decision would have been on Tuesday’s “Sean Hannity Show.”
Bush discussed a previous answer he gave about the Iraq War, and said, “I interpreted the question wrong, I guess. I was talking about, given what people knew then, would you have done it? Rather than, knowing what we know now. And knowing what we know now, clearly there were mistakes as it related to faulty intelligence in the lead-up to the war, and the lack of focus on security. My brother’s admitted this. And we have to learn from that.”
Bush added that the troop surge was “quite effective,” and criticized President Obama for erasing the gains made in the surge by “pulling out too early.”
Bush then stated that, in hindsight, he would make a different decision, but “I don’t know what the decision would have been, that’s a hypothetical.”
