Hillary Clinton’s first California fundraising tour since announcing for president raked in $800,00 for a mere 15-minute speech in Pacific Palisades today.
It was part of a $3 million single-day haul for the Democratic Party frontrunner, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Hollywood executives paid to hobnob with each other, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Congressman Ted Lieu (D-Torrance). VIPs were given extra private time with Clinton in a separate area.
Following a duck-the-media strategy, Clinton’s event granted access to only one media outlet, according to the local Palisadian-Post.
Clinton reportedly “breezed in and out,” spending just 15 minutes speaking on the “economy, education, mental health and reforming the dysfunctional political structure.” She took just two questions on education rights and fracking. The talk concluded with a joke about dying her gray hair, which the crowd found terribly funny according to the Post report.
TV Producer Steven Bochco and wife Dayna hosted the 200-person event in their home. The Post noted, “The luncheon took place in one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Pacific Palisades…where Hollywood A-listers like Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reside.”
The price for access to the event: a $2,700 donation to Hillary for America, the maximum federal contribution.
Clinton planned six official fundraisers for her California tour and head back to the Bay Area for one last event on Friday.
