A woman charged with scalding a baby to death in hot water was apprehended at Kennedy Airport attempting to flee the country after the murder.
Oluyemisi Adebayo, 54, was intercepted as she tried to flee back to her home country of Nigeria. She was immediately charged with the murder of 22-month-old Naomi Mondesire, a disabled baby from Queens.
Little Naomi had been born premature and had to breathe out of a tracheotomy tube. She spent her first year of life in a hospital being fed through a tube.
On Saturday evening, April 25, the Nigerian immigrant, who is a licensed practical nurse, submerged the child in water so hot that the child’s skin started coming off in chunks. The child died from the grisly injuries two days later.
When the child’s grandmother demanded to know what happened, Adebayo said that she “did something bad” but claimed she didn’t know how the child was burned.
Police found Adebayo at the airport trying to flee the country at 7AM on April 29.
