On April 29, a homeowner in East Knox County, Tennessee, reportedly awoke to the sound of glass breaking, drew a bead on the alleged intruder, and blew the suspect out of the house with one shot. When police arrived, they found him dying on the porch.
According to ABC 6, the homeowner shot from his bedroom, striking 40-year-old James Melvin Vinson, who was in the living room.
Police said, “Vinson had an extensive criminal history with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office and Knoxville Police Department and had two outstanding warrants in Knox County, related to a theft charge and a violation of probation.”
“Vinson was also wanted by police “for aggravated armed burglary,” according to Local 8, which also reports that the homeowner fired one shot from a Glock handgun as Vinson was allegedly “trying to crawl” through a broken window. The homeowner’s one shot knocked Vinson out the window and onto the porch.
