Friday on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” host Andrea Mitchell went on the offense to defend former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on the grounds that there is no legal proof of quid pro quos for foreign donors to the Clinton Foundation during Hilary’s tenure as secretary of state.
The author of the new book, “Clinton Cash,” Peter Schweizer, defused Mitchell’s aggressive questioning saying the book has laid out disturbing pattern of payments and donations coinciding with favors and positive outcomes for Clinton allies that needs to be investigated further.
Schweizer said, “I’m not saying that there was a quid pro quo, but what I’m saying is, you see a pattern of behavior as it relates to India and elsewhere, Whether it was a controversial issue before her, funds flow in, either through the foundation or in the form of speaking fees, and there is a policy decision that tends to favor the participants.”
He continued, “The problem is you find coincidence, coincidence, coincidence, coincidence.”
“Here’s the bottom line, with most presidents, their production and their speaking fees go down over a period of time,” Schweizer added. “What happened with Clinton, even if they didn’t go down, in 2009 when Hillary becomes secretary of state is, many paydays overseas triple from where they were before. The question is, why did they suddenly triple in 2009 compared to where they were in 2008 or 2007?”
