In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News just a few days before she is set to enter the 2016 presidential race, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina shared her thoughts about the riots and unrest in Baltimore.
“First of all,” said Fiorina, “the death of this young man is obviously a tragedy, and a thorough investigation needs to be concluded as quickly as possible.” She added that the case demonstrated the benefits of police body cameras and dashboard cameras “for everyone’s protection; transparency always helps accountability.”
“Secondly, the peaceful protests are one thing,” continued Fiorina. “Of course, everyone has the right to peacefully protest, but I’m really disturbed when I hear people say that these riots were sparked by the death of this young man.”
To the contrary, she said, these protests “were not sparked by the death of this young man.” Those who were rioting and looting were only using Freddie Gray’s death as an “excuse.”
“We cannot condone this kind of violence,” concluded Fiorina. “It’s completely counterproductive, and it’s being conducted by a set of young men who have no stake in their community, and we need to separate and be clear that this kind of violence is never, never tolerable.”
As Breitbart News reported, on May 4, Fiorina is scheduled to announce she is running for president. Considered a longshot candidate, she has, nonetheless, impressed conservative audiences this year with passionate speeches–and sharp critiques of Hillary Clinton–at CPAC and several recent events in early primary states. Craig Robinson, founder and editor of the TheIowaRepublican.com, wrote this week that Fiorina was “well liked and respected by Iowa Republican activists” and “is going to be a surprise on caucus night if she keeps it up.”
