Following the violent Freddie Gray protests over the weekend, Baltimore Police now say gangs are working together in order to “take out” law enforcement officers.

According to a report in the Baltimore Sun, city police report they have received a “credible threat” that members of “various gangs”  have “entered into a partnership” to hurt police officers.

The gangs named include: the Black Guerrilla Family, the Bloods and the Crips.

“Law enforcement agencies should take appropriate precautions to ensure the safety of their officers,” the Sun quoted the police.

The report noted that police spokesman Capt. Eric Kowalczyk could not say whether the threat has any connection to the Gray protests.

Gray died this month after he sustained a spinal injury following an arrest. His death sparked further national outcry about police treatment of black men and is currently under investigation by local and federal authorities.

Six police officers have been suspended in conjunction with Gray’s death. His funeral was Monday.
