Pregnant Baton Rouge Woman Shot and Killed, Baby Survives

Brittney Mills, 29, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who was eight months pregnant, was shot and killed Friday night with numerous shots to her upper body, but her baby was delivered and may live.

According to WAFB-TV, Baton Rouge police said Mills was shot at a home after she may have opened the door. Baton Rouge PD Cpl. Don Cappola told WAFB that the suspect asked to borrow Mills’s car and shot her after she refused.

As of April 13, 2015, there had been 19 murders in Baton Rouge this year, all of them from shootings. The number of homicides increased from 49 in 2013 to 53 in 2014.
