Politico’s Mike Allen shares a leaked memo from the Hillary Clinton campaign this morning, previewing their strategy for diffusing the bombshell reports in Peter Schweizer’s new book, Clinton Cash.
Admitting that the book is now getting attention, the memo encourages Clinton supporters to stay cheerful and carefully swat away the story’s credibility, insisting that there are no true bombshells in the book.
The memo also details three rules for supporters:
(1) You can’t stop the onslaught so just act quickly to defuse it; (2) If there is no ‘there’ there the story will burn hot, fast and out; and (3) No handwringing – [Chairman John] Podesta won’t have it.
Other parts of the memo attack Rand Paul, Fox News, and the New York Times for hyping the story, but admit that it will get attention.
“Now that the allegations have been aired, it’s clear the book fails to break any new ground,” the memo claims.
