Jindal: Religious Beliefs Between Us and God, Not Us and Hillary

Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA) challenged a statement made by Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton that “religious beliefs…have to be changed” in order to accommodate abortion.

Jindal, a likely 2016 contender, said Friday, “That’s crazy talk. This is why the fight for religious freedom is so important. Our religious beliefs are between us and God, not us and Hillary Clinton.”

“Hillary Clinton and The Left want to socially engineer everyone to adhere to their leftwing ideology even if it’s in violation of a person’s sincerely held religious convictions,” he added.

Clinton said during her keynote address at the Women in the World Summit on Thursday night, “Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care and safe childbirth. All the laws we’ve passed don’t count for much if they’re not enforced.”

“Rights have to exist in practice, not just on paper,” she continued. “Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”
