Wisconsin Governor and likely 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker has an A+ rating from the NRA and has been a strong protector of the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment.
“It is my honor to work with the NRA in my state and across the country. I’m proud of my A+ rating as governor. Some on the Left might call it a Scarlet Letter but I consider it a badge of honor,” said Walker in his speech.
Walker spoke at the National Rifle Association’s Convention in Tennessee on Friday, highlighting President Obama’s unpopular position on gun control.
“Sometimes I think that the current occupant in the White House forgets that when the president is sworn in he takes an oath to “preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States”,” said Walker. “Well Mr. President, the 2nd Amendment is part of the Constitution. You don’t get to pick and choose which part of the Constitution you support. Preserving, protecting and defending it is not optional. It’s mandatory.”
Walker said that the Second Amendment is about protecting the right of law abiding Americans to have and carry firearms, but it is also about freedom.
“It is all about freedom – the very thing our founders spelled out in our nation’s Constitution,” added Walker.
