Obama and his fellow Democrats have been in a full sprint for gun control since December 14, 2012, leading to more Americans buying more guns and pushing the firearms industry to historic heights in the process.
Just last month, California processed “200,000” background checks. This follows a stunning year in 2014, where a 21-year-old record for handgun sales was shattered.
The Sacramento Bee reported that California sold a record 510,000 handguns in 2014, easily breaking the previous record of 433,000 in 1993. And on firearm sales, California is just a microcosm of what we have seen in the nation as a whole since December 2012.
According to The Washington Times, 2013 is the most recent year “for which the government has figures” on firearm sales, and those figures show “10.8 million” firearms manufactured in that year to meet the booming demand. That is nearly twice the number manufactured in 2010.
From 2001 to 2007, the firearm industry manufactured “between 3 and 4 million” guns. Manufacturers made more than 4 million in 2008, then hit 5.6 million for 2009 and 2010. Manufacturing rose to “8.6 million in 2012” as Democrats began pushing for more gun control after James Holmes committed a heinous crime with a gun for which he passed a background check.
Then came Adam Lanza’s sickening crime at Sandy Hook Elementary–a crime for which he circumvented background checks by stealing his guns. This resulted in Obama and the Democrats pushing everything from “high capacity” magazine bans to “assault weapons” bans to an expansion of the very background checks that failed to stop Lanza and Holmes from committing their crimes.
Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) infamously pushed an expanded background check bill in response to Sandy Hook, while subsequently admitting his bill would not have stopped the crime at Sandy Hook from occurring.
And gun sales soared–reaching “10.8 million” in 2013, in conjunction with a record 21,093,273 background checks for gun purchases in that year alone.
Almost a full year later, on Black Friday 2014, Breitbart News reported gun sales boomed to such a degree that there were nearly three background checks every second.
But what does Obama say? He says it is “heart-breaking” that his administration could not pass more gun control.
