President Obama hosted an Easter prayer breakfast at the White House today, reflecting on the Resurrection of Christ and the future of the country.
Citing 1 John 3:18, Obama spoke about a Christian’s duty to love.
“On Easter I do reflect on the fact that as a Christian I am supposed to love and I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less than loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned,” he said.
After pausing, Obama admitted that it was “a topic for another day.”
“I was about to veer off,” he admitted as the crowd of faith leaders laughed. “I’m pulling it back.”
Growing serious, Obama continued with a reflection on Christ’s death and resurrection.
“I pray that we will live up to his example, I pray that I will live up to his example, I fall short so often, every day I try to do better,” he said.
