During his weekly “Fox & Friends” appearance, real estate mogul Donald Trump reacted to the pending announcement of Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) run for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.
Trump suggested the video the Paul camp released Sunday night was a little overplayed, but didn’t rule Paul out as a candidate, in addition to himself.
“I like him by the way,” Trump said. “He’s a nice guy, a friend of mine. Really nice guy. I don’t understand really what’s the purpose. He put out a video prior to the announcement.”
“I think numerous people have a shot,” Trump added. “I would say the ones that have the best shot maybe aren’t – is not put into too many polls. One of them came in fourth in a poll and I haven’t done anything – that happens to be Trump.”
Trump said he had hired staff in New Hampshire and South Carolina as part of his effort to express the serious nature of his possible candidacy.
“I am totally serious. They will soon find that out,” he added. “I am looking at it very seriously because I’m tired of watching politicians screw up this country. We have a president who’s incompetent, doesn’t know what to do,” he said.
