Monday at the White House Press briefing, CNN’s Jim Acosta grilled press secretary Josh Earnest over his admission that the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is claiming all sanctions will be lifted once a deal is in place in June, while the White House’s framework talking points claimed sanctions would be eased over time, once Iran’s compliance to the nuclear program deal is proven.
Acosta said, “These different expectations about sanctions being lifted, does that mean there was no framework agreement last week? That’s a pretty key pillar it would seem of this framework agreement.”
He added, “It seems like what was decided by all sides was ‘OK lets go out and make an announcement’ even though this very key pillar, almost the backbone of the framework … it seems as if that was not worked out.”
