On Tuesday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) vowed she was not going to run for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016 despite the faltering of her party’s front-runner former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in recent months.
“No, I’m not running and I’m not going to run,” Warren said. “I’m in Washington. I’ve got this really great job and a chance to try and make a difference on things that really matter.”
Co-host Savannah Guthrie asked Warren if she thought a Clinton candidacy was the right one for her party. Warren said to wait and see before making that judgement.
“I think we need to give her a chance to decide if she’s going to run and to lay out what she wants to run on,” she added. “I think that’s her opportunity to do that.”
