Americans for Prosperity Foundation has selected Gateway Pundit Jim Hoft to receive the Breitbart Award for Excellence in Online Journalism at this year’s RightOnline conference in Washington, DC on May 1 and 2. Breitbart.com Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlow will present the award to Hoft, who recently battled health issues but has continued to be a leading small-government advocate online.

RightOnline, the tech conference for liberty-minded Americans, is returning this year with an expanded vision aimed at arming conservatives with the tools they need to spread the message of freedom on digital platforms.
The conference, sponsored by Americans for Prosperity Foundation, will be held at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Washington, DC. The group said the conference will feature some of the biggest names in the free-market movement, as well as top tech industry professionals who will equip attendees with skills to take them to the next level in the rapidly changing world of online advocacy.
Hilgemann told Breitbart the event would be unlike anything freedom advocates had attended before.
“There are plenty of tech conferences out there,” Hilgemann said, “but this is really the only one that’s geared for liberty-minded folks. They can feel right at home here and get some of the private-sector insights that represent the cutting edge.
Panels will feature executives from Microsoft, Google and Facebook, who are ready to give attendees a peek into the future of online advocacy and the trends shaping the tech industry today. They will also be mixing with movement leaders like HotAir.com’s Ed Morrissey and FOX News contributor Guy Benson for a truly unique experience.
RightOnline also gives conference goers the opportunity to hear from keynotes like FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai, who is opposing the Obama administration’s internet regulations from inside the government, and Sharyl Attkisson, who rose to fame after controversy surrounding her tough reporting on the Obama administration.
On Saturday night, RightOnline attendees will get the chance to participate in interactive, TED-style talks with speakers presenting “in the round” for rapid-fire They’ll be able to ask questions of Microsoft Corporate VP Dan’l Lewin and Matt Michelsen, who created the customizable social media universe called place.xyz, favored by celebrities like Lady Gaga.
“There’s just no other place where you can find big names in the small-government movement speaking right alongside some really visionary private sector people,” Hilgemann said. “This conference is all about learning how to spread our message of freedom more effectively, and the programming is really unparalleled.”
AFP Foundation said panels at RightOnline would include “Social Media 301,” “Messaging to the Masses,” “Marketing Made Simple,” and “Building Your Community through Effective Email Marketing.”
