On Saturday, around 2 p.m. in Boonville, New York, a veteran who kept his $2,000 prosthetic eye inside his car in a small black bag found it had been stolen.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s office said that the car had been parked in the parking lot of the Tops Supermarket Plaza.
Prosthetic eyes, also called ocular prostheses, are usually covered by health insurance and can cost from $2,000 to $8,000 out of pocket.
