After Wednesday’s assault on areas in Oklahoma and Arkansas by tornadoes and storms, a high school student in Moore, Oklahoma, snapped a picture that quickly went viral: a broken power pole suspended on power lines that formed a cross.
Chase Rhodes was at the intersection of 119th St. and Western Ave. when he saw something that moved him to tweet, “Just found this after the tornado. God is with us.”
Moore was hit by an EF5 tornado in 2013, so the residents were more prepared this time. But in the Tulsa suburb of Sand Springs, one person was killed when a mobile home collapsed. The Oklahoma Insurance Department reported that over 1,100 homes were damaged. The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management reported that at least nine people were hospitalized in Oklahoma as a result of the storms. Roughly 80,000 customers lost power in the state.
