President Obama isn’t the only one in the administration spending the last years of his term jetting around the country on the taxpayer’s dime.
A new report from the Washington Post reveals that White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett is preparing to travel to several states to promote the idea of mandatory paid leave policies.
The initiative, dubbed “Lead on Leave” begins next month in Seattle as well as Minnesota, California, Oregon, Georgia, Colorado and Pennsylvania.
Jarrett explained to the newspaper that she is passionate about the issue, particularly since she is a “single mom.”
“This should not be a partisan issue. Every family struggles to balance the demands of their family with the demands of their workplace,” she said. “As a single mom myself, I know this is a challenge every family faces.”
Jarrett will be joined by Labor Secretary Thomas E. Perez as well as other White House officials.
