On March 23, a suspect with a knife was shot and killed while allegedly trying to invade a home in southwest Albuquerque.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, 43- year-old Willie Amador was allegedly “carrying a 6-inch knife early Monday morning” when the incident took place. Police said they were called to the home at approximately 1 a.m. “by a woman who said her husband had shot a man who was trying to enter their home.”
Police arrived to find Amador on the ground “with a knife [lying] next to his body.” They did not report how many times he had been shot.
Amador was allegedly “able to force his way through the screen door” but was shot before he made “it all the way into the house.”
Police said the homeowner will face no charges for killing the suspect, as “you do have a right to defend yourself in and around your home.”
