NBC’s “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd said that “”Hillary Clinton desperately needs Jeb Bush to be the Republican nominee” on Tuesday’s “Today.”
Todd, discussing a new NBC/WSJ poll that showed that voters preferred a candidate who would bring greater change to the White House over a more experience candidate by a 59-38 margin (a difference that he pointed out his higher than it was back in 2008), and that 60% of voters saw Jeb Bush as “too much of a return to the policies of the past” compared to only 27% who responded that he “would provide the new ideas and vision the country will need for the future” with Hillary Clinton receiving 51% “too much of a return to the policies of the past” and 44% for provide the new ideas and vision the country will need for the future,” remarked “Hillary Clinton desperately needs Jeb Bush to be the Republican nominee. That actually helps her more than maybe she realizes.”
He later tweeted, “based solely on future vs past argument, both Rubio and Walker (at least the ideas of them right now) are potentially tougher Clinton foes.”
Todd also addressed the controversy over Hillary Clinton’s e-mails and argued that she “needs to announce something actionable…she’s got to do something.” He added that while the e-mail story wouldn’t have much staying power with voters, it does give Republicans a reason to keep investigating Clinton.
