Women aren’t stupid.
That’s especially true for young women of the Millennial generation. They have outperformed men in academia, graduating at a higher rate than their male counterparts. They have grown up with technology at their fingertips, able to easily find the best schools in the country for their desired career choice, or find the nearest Chinese takeout place. And they aren’t fooled any longer, as was perhaps a generation before them, that when they are pregnant, they are carrying a human being, not a “clump of cells.” This is why Millennial women aren’t going to go the way of the abortion lobby any longer, no matter what kinds of outrageous propaganda is thrown at them.
EMILY’s List, a radical pro-choice group that works to elect like-minded women to political office, has come out swinging for Hillary Clinton, to no one’s surprise, giving the former Secretary of the State the “We are EMILY” award, which honors someone who fights for “women and families.” Think President Obama is radical on the abortion issue? After all, he thought nothing of voting four different times against protecting babies born alive after botched abortions. Hillary is much worse – and EMILY’s List is supporting her.
Speaking to the United Nations for International Women’s Day last year, Mrs. Clinton reiterated her belief that abortion is a “bedrock truth” when she said: “There is one lesson from the past, in particular, that we cannot afford to ignore: You cannot make progress on gender equality or broader human development, without safeguarding women’s reproductive health and rights. That is a bedrock truth.”
Safeguarding human rights is a bedrock truth, not taking them away from the innocent and defenseless. And that is what Millennial women know is the truth.
The abortion lobby knows it is in trouble. A few years ago, when NARAL president Nancy Keenan stepped down from her position, she was shocked at the youth of the March for Life participants, saying, “There are so many of them, and they are so young.” She should have seen the March this year. The number of young men and women was overwhelming.
The Knights of Columbus/Marist poll reports that 59 percent of Millennials believe that abortion is wrong and 58 percent said abortion does more harm than good. A National Journal poll showed that 52 percent of Millennials support a ban on abortions past 20 weeks. Do you know what EMILY’s List thinks of abortions after 20 weeks?
“These House Republicans are pushing an extreme and unconstitutional abortion ban that would threaten the health and safety of women across the country,” said Stephanie Schriock, President of EMILY’s List.
Is it so extreme to support banning a procedure that rips apart a baby in the womb, one that would have been born a few months later?
It has been scientifically shown that babies at 20 weeks gestation feel pain and an abortion at 20 weeks and beyond is especially horrific. It’s something that most Americans – and Millennials – do not support, although former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis did, and look what happened to her.
Davis was the poster woman for all things “women’s rights” as she filibustered for hours against a bill that banned abortions after 20 weeks. Davis was heralded as a hero and tried to translate that support into a campaign for governor of Texas. She ran against a white male and lost the women’s vote by five points.
In its endorsement of Wendy Davis, EMILY’s List said it “knew Wendy Davis was a tireless and courageous fighter for Texas women and families even before she spoke out for an inspiring 13 hours against the extreme anti-woman agenda.”
Wendy Davis was extreme. Hillary Clinton is extreme. EMILY’s List is extreme.
Millennial women are smart and won’t be fooled by the radical pro-abortion lobby at the voting booth.
