Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) argued that Republicans were blowing Hillary Clinton “occasionally” using a personal e-mail account out of proportion on Wednesday’s broadcast of “The Rundown with Jose Diaz-Balart” on MSNBC.
“This seems to be blown out of proportion already. I think the fact that the special investigative committee is going to be launching a new investigation into this issue suggests that — what we thought from the very start, that this committee is all about trying to discredit and embarrass Hillary Clinton, that’s it not really about getting to the bottom of Benghazi. certainly she’ll answer some questions in the coming days and weeks, but it doesn’t seem to me to be out of practice to be occasionally using an outside e-mail account and frankly I think this is just part of a larger campaign for Republicans to try to start running against her” he stated.
Diaz-Balart then pointed out that the initial report came from The New York Times, and that Clinton didn’t have a government e-mail and exclusively used her personal one.
Murphy then said that Clinton would “talk about this, I assume, in the coming days and weeks” and that he hoped Clinton would be judged by her record as Secretary of State.
