A new Field Poll reveals that a majority of California registered voters still have a very positive view of Gov. Jerry Brown–even though a similar majority also believes he spends too much money on big government projects the state cannot afford.
The poll, conducted among 1,241 registered voters, found that 56% of voters approved of Brown’s performance, and only 32% disapproved. In addition, 53% agreed that Brown “[d]eserves credit for turning around the state’s finances.”
However, 57% of voters–and 45% of Democrats–agreed that Brown “[f]avors too many big government projects that the
state cannot afford right now.”
The poll did not mention high-speed rail, but that project has been unpopular among voters.
