On February 21 an unidentified criminal shot Minneapolis police officer Jordan Davis after he responded to a burglary call around 5 AM.

According CBS Minnesota, Davis “was shot in the shoulder while standing outside his squad car” after he’d finished “clearing the scene on a burglary call.” His partner rushed him to a hospital where he is in “satisfactory” condition.

Police Chief Janee Harteau believes Davis and his partner were targeted.

Harteau said:

This is a reminder to all that every one of our officers face such danger simply because they choose to wear a uniform. They deserve our support and gratitude. We ask for continued prayers for this officer, his family and every officer who is out protecting and serving their communities.

The gunman who allegedly targeted Davis has been arrested.
